In this special edition of the classic CLUE board game, players take on the roles of PEANUTS characters such as Charlie Brown, Snoopy, and Lucy. The goal is to determine who took the blanket, where the incident occurred, and what item was used. The game board features well-known locations from the PEANUTS universe, including Lucy’s psychiatric booth, Snoopy’s doghouse, and the Pumpkin Patch. Players gather clues, question suspects, and work to solve the mystery before their opponents.

New Creatures: Megasloth and Snallygasters

This month’s releases feature two new creatures:

• Megasloth: Known for its calm nature, the Megasloth roams the forests of West Virginia. However, it can become a formidable opponent when provoked.
• Snallygasters: As the first stable creature mutated by FEV (Forced Evolutionary Virus), the Snallygaster is characterized by its multiple eyes, teeth, and limbs, making it a challenging adversary.

To support these new additions, Modiphius is offering a FREE Wasteland Wildlife Rules Packet. This downloadable PDF includes rules for the Megasloth and Snallygasters, new Weapon and Item Cards, a Regional Rules Table, and a scenario titled Creature Feature. In this scenario, players take on the role of Cryptid Hunters tasked with tracking down cryptids and gathering samples.

Upcoming Releases: Fallout: Factions Core Rulebook and Sheepsquatch

Several new products are scheduled for release in the coming months:

• Fallout: Factions Core Rulebook: Expanding on the Battle for Nuka-World Starter Set, the Core Rulebook will include rules for Super Mutants, Survivors, Brotherhood of Steel, and Raiders, along with new scenarios. Preorders will open later this month.
• Sheepsquatch: Scheduled for release in March 2025, this cryptid, known for its size and poisoned quills, has been a part of Appalachian folklore since before the Great War.

Pylon Ambush Scenic Set

The previously teased Assaultron Imposter Sheepsquatch is part of the Pylon Ambush Scenic Set. The set includes Aries, the cryptid expert, an Imposter Sheepsquatch, two resin bases, and a new Scenic Base, offering players options for customization.

The initial collection includes the Call of Cthulhu Starter Set, Investigator Handbook, Keeper Rulebook, No Time to Scream, the Keeper Screen Pack, and the Arkham campaign setting. An Alchemy Enhanced Edition of the Starter Set is also available, offering additional resources such as a looping soundtrack with adjustable intensity, ambient soundscapes, motion overlays, and an animated cover image.

Each game involves different combinations of citizens, offering varied gameplay experiences with 30 unique animal citizens in total. Players must strategically manage their citizens to accumulate sparks, with the game concluding when the deck is depleted. The player with the most sparks wins.

The game comes with components that include detailed artwork and custom materials. According to the creators, no additional stretch goals will be included, as all planned content is already part of the base game.

The Kickstarter campaign for Citizens of the Spark has raised $31,994, surpassing its $30,000 goal, with 19 days left until it ends on October 23.

Set in Nuna (“the Land”), the game is based in a frozen world where ancient cities lie beneath the ice and mystical creatures roam the tundra. Using Chaosium’s Basic Roleplaying (BRP) engine, players can take on roles such as Inuit or Settlers (Vikings, Whalers, and Scientists) who work together to survive in the environment, uncover lost technologies, and strengthen their communities.

The game offers a Social Interaction system that highlights the importance of community-building in Nuna. Characters who lose their community become Wanderers, facing challenges to their mental stability until they can integrate into a new community. Alternatively, players can opt out of these rules if they prefer a more traditional adventure-style experience.

Character backgrounds offer various abilities tied to their cultural heritage. Inuit characters communicate with the land and its spirits, Vikings invoke Norse gods, Scientists repair ancient technologies, and Whalers navigate the icy seas. The environment also plays a central role, with weather patterns and creatures like shapeshifters and fenris wolves adding challenges.

Nuna draws on four mythic traditions—Inuit, Viking, Scientist, and Whaler—each shaping the monsters and worldviews within the game.

The game will feature artwork from Canadian and indigenous artists, supporting the cultural communities from which it draws inspiration. Nuna is being published independently under Chaosium’s Basic Roleplaying Universal Game Engine rules and the ORC license.

In Curseborne, characters are defined by the curse that haunts them, yet this same curse grants them unique, magical abilities. Players find themselves not only contending with their own curses but also rebelling against the ancient feuds between their intertwined families. The game emphasizes rebellion, hope, and community, with characters striving to break free from the web of curses that binds them while finding moments of joy and solidarity in a cursed world.

A key aspect of Curseborne is the Storypath Ultra system, designed to make every action meaningful in driving the narrative forward. Dice rolls are reserved for moments of high stakes, where the outcome is uncertain and significant. Even when characters fail, the system ensures they “fail forward,” gaining momentum that can enhance future success. This blend of narrative control and mechanical consequences makes gameplay dynamic and immersive.

The Curseborne core book is split into two main sections. The first part focuses on the setting and the Accursed, diving into their world and the different monstrous lineages to which they belong, such as The Dead, The Hungry, The Outcasts, The Primal, and The Sorcerers. The second section provides the rules for character creation, powers, and game mechanics using the Storypath Ultra system.

As of now, the Kickstarter campaign has raised $96,954, well over its initial goal of $30,000, with 1,312 backers. The campaign will remain open until October 31.

Updates in the 5.5E Transition

The upcoming edition will revise numerous elements of Dungeons & Dragons, including base classes, spells, and monster stat blocks. D&D Beyond’s updates will start with the early access phase of the 2024 Player’s Handbook and will extend beyond the release of the 2024 Monster Manual.

Key updates will include:

• Gameplay and Material Updates: Definitions related to core gameplay, such as Armor Class and Saving Throws, as well as details regarding skills and abilities, will be updated across D&D Beyond. Updates will also touch on tooltips and linked materials in the compendium.
• User Interface Enhancements: Changes in the user interface will update monster stat blocks and character sheets to align with the new ruleset.

Continuity of 2014 Content Access

D&D Beyond has confirmed that users will retain access to the 2014 edition content. This includes classes, subclasses, species, backgrounds, feats, and monsters, which will be marked with a “Legacy” badge to denote their status relative to the new edition.

Impact on Homebrew Content and Legacy Designation

The majority of homebrew content will remain unchanged except where it integrates updated tooltips. Items and content from earlier editions that are superseded by the 2024 rules will receive a Legacy badge, indicating their adherence to older rules or lore.

Compatibility with 2014 Materials

The new system will maintain compatibility with materials from the 2014 ruleset, albeit with some restrictions. For example, while players can still use older spells and magic items, they may need to recreate these as homebrew content to integrate them with the 2024 ruleset.

The release marks an expansion in the gameplay experience, offering new character options that include a range of influences, origins, and role focuses designed to deepen character customization. Moreover, it elaborates on several methods for Transformers characters to combine, catering to diverse player strategies and narratives. This is complemented by an assortment of new gear and weapon enhancements, encouraging creativity in how players equip their characters for the game’s challenges.

For Game Masters, the sourcebook serves as a valuable resource, offering detailed advice on how to craft engaging Combiners campaigns. This includes suggestions for plot hooks, identifying potential threats, and outlining possible allies, all aimed at enriching the game’s storytelling and immersion.

Renegade Game Studios has also announced a limited-time offer where customers ordering the sourcebook will receive a free PDF copy, adding value to their purchase. However, they note that should any order including the free PDF be canceled, the refund amount will reflect the price of the physical book minus the cost of the PDF.

“Pathfinder: Gallowspire Survivors” allows players to venture into the depths of Gallowspire either alone or with a partner to challenge the Whispering Tyrant, Tar-Baphon. The release will see the introduction of a dash mechanic for evading attacks, a potion belt for gaining buffs, and various gameplay modes to enhance the player experience. Additionally, the game supports local co-op and Steam Remote Play, facilitating collaboration among players.
